The 7.72TB alleged model: a new weight-reconstruction audit. u/Appropriate-Try-1998:
I investigated burner22/numbat, a 7.72TB checkpoint claiming to be an internal Anthropic Mythos-class model.
My forensic findings show that the tested weights are deterministically generated, not learned through training. The checkpoint's claim to be a genuine trained model is not supported by this evidence.
Here's the proof:
633 tensors: 11,374,080 values reconstructed 100% bit-for-bit using SHA-256 and NumPy PCG64.
373.6 million weight signs: 100% matched the predicted pseudorandom sequences.
NVFP4 weights: 99.51% of 173 million held-out quantization codes reconstructed.
4.73B-parameter truncated model: Successfully assembled and executed, but generated repetitive punctuation rather than meaningful language.
Embeddings: Some semantic structure exists, but that does not make the reconstructed weight families genuine trained weights.
Conclusion: This is a fake model checkpoint containing demonstrably generated weights. The analysis does not establish who created it or whether it has any connection to Anthropic.

The linked research card draws a narrower boundary than the headline: its tested reconstruction subset is 184.4 million parameters, about 0.0027% of the checkpoint. Whole-checkpoint fabrication remains a hypothesis; attention projections, routers and input-scale streams were not rebuilt. Embeddings show learned semantic structure, but their origin is unknown.
The 4.73B artifact keeps only one of 114 decoder layers. Its repeated question marks also appear with a random-weight control, so that inference result is not evidence of provenance or of whether the full checkpoint was trained. The strongest evidence here is the deterministic weight reconstruction, not the broken text output.
In the replies, u/Appropriate-Try-1998 clarifies that HTTP range requests avoided downloading the entire 7.72TB and that the complete candidate-search history is not documented; an exhaustive RNG search is not claimed. The attached image is the original screenshot of the research card. These experiments have not been independently rerun here.
