IBM and NASA have released the open-source NASA-IBM Lunar Foundation Model, trained on decades of lunar observations and built to combine data from multiple instruments and resolutions. IBM says it can help identify potential ice deposits, map craters and study volcanic formations on the Moon. In a technical paper, the model reduced error in identifying areas with high potential for lunar ice by up to 22% versus the SwinV2-B baseline; it also outperformed the baseline by nearly 19% on context-scale crater detection while using half the training data. The model and an open-source lunar dataset are available for researchers building tools for lunar science and exploration. Источник
