10,000 agents of the next GPT, about four days, fully decentralized: Sam Altman’s description of a mathematical discovery run at ADIPEC on November 2.
His claim is that this run proved what he calls “the first Millennium Prize problem.” The agents used a model he says will be released soon. They worked continuously and collaborated without a hierarchy or bosses: each could explore its own direction, share progress, learn from the others and decide what to work on.
Altman frames that organization of work as a new way for discovery to happen. He describes the result as one of the most remarkable moments he has seen in AI, and expects companies to be able to witness comparable moments in their own work. In the speech, that prospect leads into his ambition to partner with the energy industry.
These are Altman’s claims in the attached clip. The clip does not name the mathematical problem or present its proof.
