OpenMontage

Samira Okafor ·

Open-source, agentic video production system that turns a brief and source materials into researched, scripted, narrated, captioned, composed and reviewed videos.

OpenMontage is an open-source production workflow for AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, ChatGPT Codex and OpenCode. It takes a brief and optional source materials through a structured sequence: research, proposal, script, scene plan, asset selection or generation, narration, music, composition, rendering and review. The repository provides 12 production pipelines, more than 100 registered tools and more than 700 agent skill and production-knowledge files according to its README. Pipelines cover animated explainers, cinematic pieces, documentaries, screen demos, podcast repurposing, localization and dubbing, talking-head projects, and more. A local Backlot board shows project stages, assets and approval gates, while the system records decisions and estimated spend before execution. To try it, clone the repository, follow the Windows or macOS/Linux setup instructions, then open it in a compatible AI coding assistant and give it a concrete brief. The project requires Python 3.10+, FFmpeg, Node.js 18+ and an AI coding assistant. API keys are optional for some paths; the README also describes local and open media providers. Actual output and cost depend on the selected pipeline, providers, available hardware and credentials. The repository is licensed under AGPL-3.0.
