Penpot is an open-source design platform by Kaleidos for teams building digital products. Design interfaces and prototypes together, manage reusable components, variants and native design tokens, and use CSS Grid and Flex Layout for layouts that follow web standards. Inspect mode exposes SVG, CSS and HTML; plugins, the API and the MCP server connect design with development and AI workflows.
Use the hosted web app or deploy Penpot on your own infrastructure. The source code is licensed under MPL-2.0. The hosted Professional plan is free; hosted Unlimited, Enterprise and dedicated Private Server options are paid. Enterprise covers administration, advanced permissions, SSO and governance. Any external AI agent or provider used with the MCP integration has its own requirements and possible costs.
