Reflection’s product team is answering questions about Beam, its first open-weight model with 501 billion parameters, in a live r/LocalLLaMA AMA on November 3. The session runs from 8 to 11 a.m. Pacific time.
One practical answer for agent builders came from Sanyam Bhutani. Beam 1.0 hasn’t been trained specifically for sub-agent orchestration or extensively evaluated on it. He recommends using a single agent with a large context window for now and invites examples of workflows that could inform future releases.
Bhutani and Florent Gbelidji are there from the open-source team, alongside product manager Chetan Tekur, technical community lead Yufeng Guo and tech communications lead Abby Reider. Replies come from u/reflectionai, u/init__27 and u/yufengg. The thread points to the weights, developer docs and hosted platform. A separate session with Reflection’s researchers is planned for training and methodology questions.
